Try your hand at some conservation work at Coate Water
Come and try your hand at some practical conservation work at Coate Water. Learn how to use different tools for the benefit of the park’s wildlife on a great day out in the fresh air. Meet at Coate Water Ranger Centre. Bring a packed lunch and something to drink, a sun hat, and camera if you have one. Please wear clothes to suit the weather, stout shoes and some gardening gloves. Swindon has always been a town of making and moving. From canals and trams, through to trains, planes and cars, this is a town that’s always on the go.
This exhibition explores Swindon’s transport history through seven stories. It’s not an encyclopaedic history of our transport in the town, but a look at some of the innovations, successes and tragedies that have changed the face of Swindon, including: The Golden Lion Bridge, and the Wilts and Berks Canal The Swindon Tram Disaster of 1906 Pressed Steel, and car manufacturing in Swindon The M4: The arrival of the motorway in 1970 It will also look at aeroplanes, submarines and the Old Town railway station!
