Come and explore the hidden treasures of Everyday Lives in Swindon! We collect everything from scrapbooks and business ephemera to diaries and theatre programmes.
This free tour must be booked in advance.

Guided tour of Lydiard House with cream tea

Step back in time with a guided tour of Lydiard House Museum this September.
Begin your visit with a guided tour of the historic State Rooms at Lydiard House Museum. You will discover the story of the St John family, including its colourful characters, scandals and tragedies.
Please arrive at the entrance to Lydiard House Museum five minutes before your booked tour start time.
After the tour, you can enjoy a cream tea. This includes scones served with jam, Cornish clotted cream, and a pot of tea or coffee.

Join us for this free Local Studies talk as part of Heritage Open Days, where we will be discussing what everyday life was like for women in Swindon in the 19th and 20th centuries.
We will explore where women worked, how they spent their free time, how they ran their homes, and why a gas supply may have been the ideal wedding gift.
This is a free talk, and there is no need to book.
