The tradition of sharing ghost stories during the festive season dates back to ancient winter solstice celebrations. Tales of brave heroes, monstrous creatures and supernatural encounters entertained people during the long, dark winter nights.

The Victorians embraced this tradition, making ghost stories a popular part of Christmas celebrations. Their tales often explored the idea of something mysterious or frightening lurking beyond the warmth and cheer of the festive season.
