Jack Hayward is a 92 year old former railway office worker, historian and long time resident of Swindon’s Railway Village (since 1968). As a prominent local historian, he researches and speaks on Swindon’s industrial heritage and the town’s working class history.

“Being born in the 1930s, my extraordinary life crosses the threshold between the Industrial and the Technological ages, which is where we are now. It expands from my traumatic childhood through the second world war and into the world of Steam Locomotion to dieselisation at Swindon Works.”
