The Swindon Museum and Art Gallery are housed together in a building in the Old Town area of Swindon.
Swindon's remarkable art collection now has a reputation as one of the best of British 20th Century Art outside London. It was established by local benefactor, H J P Bomford, during 1944 from a generous donation of works.
Swindon Museum has displays of local history, archaeology and geology. The museum displays tell the story of Swindon's Jurassic past, its connections with the Roman Empire and the more recent social history of this thriving town.
Swindon Museum and Art Gallery have various events running throughout the year, for full details please see our Events Calendar.
Have your say...
Swindon Museum & Art Gallery is embarking on an exciting new project to move from its current location in Old Town to a brand new purpose built facility in the town centre, at the heart of a new cultural quarter. This move will enable the Museum & Art Gallery to display more of its impressive collection of 20th century British art as well as host touring exhibitions. There will be more space to show off artefacts that tell the story of Swindon and display many great objects and collections.
To have your say and help shape the new Museum & Art Gallery, let us know what you would like the new premises to offer by completing this short online questionnaire by September 12th:
