Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon

Angus Macpherson is the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon. He has an important role in representing people in this area to ensure the policing needs of communities are met.

As Commissioner he is the voice of local people in the fight against crime and anti-social behaviour. He is also someone you can hold to account to deliver on election promises.

It is his responsibility to ensure that there is an effective and efficient police force.

This involves:

  • Setting the strategic direction and accountability for policing
  • Working with partners to prevent and tackle crime and re-offending
  • Being the voice of the public, including listening to the vulnerable and victims
  • Contributing to resourcing of policing response to regional and national threats
  • Ensuring value for money
The Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon has identified six priorities which will be addressed by working with communities to:
  • Reduce crime and anti-social behaviour
  • Protect the most vulnerable in society
  • Put victims and witnesses first
  • Reduce offending and re-offending
  • Drive up standards of customer service
  • Ensure unfailing and timely response to calls for assistance

There is also an underlying theme throughout the Police and Crime Plan - partnership, pro-activity, prevention. This is key to helping to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in Wiltshire and Swindon
