Swindon JobFest will return to the STEAM Museum on Thursday, 14 February from 2.30pm until 6pm. The event, organised by Swindon Borough Council, will bring together employers from across Swindon who are offering apprenticeships and employment opportunities in the local area.
Now in its fifth year, JobFest has fast become an important platform for Swindon employers to reach out to local young people and meet their future workforce. At last year’s event, 86% of employers said they had identified potential candidates while 87% of young people said they’d recommend the event to a friend.
The event, which is supported by Business West and sponsored by Catalent, will inform and engage young people about the career options available to them in the Swindon area.
JobFest 2019 is hoping to involve over 50 businesses from a wide range of industries including engineering, social care, hospitality and finance as well as national and local apprenticeship training providers.
Students from secondary schools have been invited to the event earlier in the afternoon while members of the public are welcome to go along from 2.30pm.
Councillor Oliver Donachie, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Prosperity, said: “The response to JobFest 2018 was excellent, with several young people walking away from the event with job opportunities while many others got lots of information about the options available to them.
“It’s a great chance for jobseekers looking for employment, training or apprenticeships in the Swindon area to speak to employers face-to-face to get the information they need to help them decide which employment route to take.”
