The Council is currently looking for more foster carers and local businesses are being asked to spread the word in any way they can. The Wyvern Theatre has got on board by sending out a dedicated email to their customers, handing out leaflets at pantomime performances and sharing posts on social media.

Councillor Mary Martin, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and School Attainment, said: “I’d like to thank the Wyvern Theatre for all of their support in spreading the word about our campaign and encouraging people who are interested in fostering to find out more.

“Every child and young person in Swindon deserves to be part of a loving and stable family and the aim of our recruitment drive is to ensure that this is the case.”

Laura James, Sales and Marketing Manager for the Wyvern Theatre, said: “It is our pleasure to be working alongside the Council’s Fostering Team and to offer support in any way that we can. It is so important to us to get involved in community projects and the work that the Council is doing to promote fostering and to find more local foster carers is vital. We are doing what we can to get the word out to our audiences and also to spread some joy to carers and the children during the Panto season.”

For those interested in finding out more about becoming a foster carer, lots of information is available on the Council’s website (www.swindon.gov.uk/fostering) or call the team for a chat on 07917 503447.

There is also an informal information session being held on 30 January from 6pm to 7pm at the Civic Offices, Euclid Street. Visit the Council’s website to find out more and book your space.
