Advisory Service for Physical Disability and Complex Health Needs

The Advisory Service for Physical Disability and Complex Health Needs work with children and young people aged 2 to 25 years who have a physical disability and/or complex medical condition. These children and young people may or may not have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and would attend their local preschool, mainstream primary/secondary school, SRP, special school or college (except Uplands or Brimble Hill special schools).

The service provides specialist educational advice and support, to improve inclusive opportunities and educational outcomes for Swindon children and young people who have a physical disability and/or a complex medical need.


What we offer

  • Advice for settings so they can best meet the needs of the pupils in their care
  • Advice about adapting and access to the curriculum, specialist resources, etc.
  • Support for transition between settings
  •  Advice for Risk Assessments, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs)
  • Provide specialist equipment from central stores
  • Adaptations to PE
  • Environmental audits
  • Manual Handling, Disability Awareness training
