Animal licensing is changing

From 1 October 2018, licences for this activity will be issued under the The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018. The full text of the regulations can be found on the Government Legislation website.

The guidance for this new legislation has just been published and can be found on the Canine and Feline Sector Group website.

Anyone who wishes to breed and sell more than four litters of puppies per year in Swindon, must be licensed by Swindon Borough Council. A breeding bitch is only permitted to produce one litter per year and there are restrictions on the ownership of the animals and where they are kept.
