The Swindon heritage action zone
The Carriage Works

We are investing over £7 million in this building. Units 3 and 5 were refurbished in the summer of 2018 and they are now a thriving business incubator (Workshed) for creative and digital start-up businesses and desk co-working space. Take a virtual tour of the space.
Unit 11 is now occupied by the Royal Agricultural University’s new Cultural Heritage Institute which will train the next generation of heritage managers and professionals. Postgraduate courses commenced in September 2020 with undergraduate courses to follow. Take a virtual tour of the completed building.

We have been awarded a further £4million by the Getting Building Fund which will enable work to commence on the refurbishment of Units 7 and 9 and the units along the London Street elevation. This will be supported by HAZ funding to redecorate and re-glaze the windows along the street frontage, effectively opening up the building to passers-by.
