Find out about the mobile library service
Swindon Borough Council, like most Local Authorities is having to respond to increasing financial pressure. In response the Council voted to reduce libraries funding from £2.6m per annum to £1.1m per annum by 2020 utilising a new libraries strategy which was informed through public consultation. The decision was made after an extensive consultation with residents. You can read about the decision and the new libraries strategy by visiting the Changes to Swindon Libraries webpage.
As part of the new libraries strategy, the mobile library service ended on the 31 March 2017.
Any books not returned to the last mobile library stop will now need returning to your nearest library. You can find details of your nearest libraries opening hours in the Libraries Directory.
The Home library service which is run by the Royal Voluntary Service in partnership with Swindon Libraries with volunteers, is available for customers who cannot get to their local library due to health and mobility issues.
