COVID-19 - Reopening our libraries

Click, Call and Collect service

A Click, Call and Collect service is now available at Central Library, North Swindon, West Swindon, Highworth and Park libraries, allowing customers to reserve books and then collect them to take home. Our experienced staff will select books from those available at that branch, and do their very best to meet your requirements.

How to order

To order you will need your library card and PIN available and will need to select which book, or books, you would like to borrow and which branch you are collecting your books from.

As well as pre-ordering specific books, if you are unsure of which books to read, you will have the option to let staff choose for you during the ordering process.

Please note, there is no reservation charge for the Click, Call and Collect service.

You can order your book online or by calling 01793 463238.

Collecting your books

When books are ready to be collected, residents will be contacted by a member of staff and reminded of the current library opening hours. People who are shielding or self-isolating can nominate someone else to collect books on their behalf.

During collection of these pre-ordered books, previous books can also be returned. Please be aware, returned books will continue to show on your account for a further 72 hours, as they must be quarantined before being processed.

During collection and return, the library will operate a one-in, one-out system, so please be aware that, while preparations have been made to make the process as efficient as possible, you may need to queue outside at busy times.

To reduce unnecessary journeys, due dates have been extended for a further two months and moving forward, books will be issued for six weeks. Reservations made before lockdown will be processed as normal.

For any customers with items due to be collected before lockdown, library staff will be in contact to confirm if these are still required and when these can be collected.
