Do Something New - town centre holiday fun
If you find yourself in the town centre over the summer holidays, why not try some of the activities and events on offer? There will be lots that young families can do including the Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge, stay and play sessions, cycling and balance bikes, boxing and explore learning sessions. You will have chance to chat to people from the Live Well team about being more active. You will also be able to find out what else Swindon has to offer families across the town.
Wellbeing Wednesdays will help you with ideas about getting active with your family. Each week you will be able to speak to the ‘Live Well’ team to find out about opportunities in Swindon. You will be able to have a go at some fun, inclusive activities, including cycling, boxing and wheelchair basketball.
This summer we are working with learning providers including the local colleges and University of the Third Age. They will be on hand to help you find out about courses and apprenticeships or learn a new skill.
Explore Learning will provide free learning workshops for your kids every Tuesday. These sessions will be fun and engaging, covering a range of different subjects suitable for children of all ages. Help your little ones get a head start or just enjoy some educational fun. For more details, check out the Library Blog.
The Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge will take place in all Swindon Libraries including the Central Library. Children can register to get stickers and freebies for reading books over the summer. After three visits they’ll receive a certificate and medal. It is all space themed with some great free events such as storytelling and real meteorites to hold! Find out more on our Summer Reading Challenge Blog.
Come along to the Central Library for free Story and Craft Sessions for children and families on Monday mornings.
Stay and Play Sessions will take place on Fridays. These sessions are an opportunity to come and play, along with your child, to have fun together. This will help to develop their confidence and social skills. A snack will be provided and family workers will be available to answer questions, should you need some advice. For more information and to book onto a session please contact FamiliesProject@swindon.gov.uk
