European passport return service
This is an optional service if you are a European Economic Area (EEA) or Swiss national and are submitting an application for documentation to prove your right to live in the UK.
The European passport return service allows you and your family to bring your passports for verification and copying. We will then send the copies on your behalf to the Home Office using the Royal Mail Special Delivery service. This allows you to keep your passport while your application for documentation to prove your right to live in the UK is being processed.
You can use this service if you are an EEA or Swiss national and you have applied online for a registration certificate or a document certifying permanent residence. You can also include any family members (of any nationality) who you have included in your online application.
The European passport return service can only be used to verify and copy your and your family’s passports, to submit with your applications. National identity cards and other supporting evidence must be submitted as originals only.
You need an appointment to use this service. Appointments are available on Thursdays between 10.00am and 2.00pm. We cannot see you at any other time or on any other days. Call the register office on 01793 522738 to make an appointment.
You need to come to the register office within ten working days of submitting your online application.
You and any family members you have included in your online application (over the age of 15 years and 6 months) should attend in person.
The fee for this service is £35.00 per applicant (including VAT), plus postage.
