Kingsdown Crematorium

Kingsdown Crematorium

The Crematorium is situated on the north eastern edge of Swindon in Kingsdown Road, which runs between Kingsdown Brewery and the South Marston Industrial Estate.

From Junction 15 of the M4 motorway, take the A419 (Cirencester dual carriageway) until the A361 turnoff, from which it is well signposted.

Kingsdown Crematorium serves the Borough of Swindon and large areas of the surrounding counties. The Crematorium is located on the pleasant rural edge of Swindon and is easily reached from a wide area around Swindon.

Fees

Please see Funeral Fees.

The Chapel

The Chapel has been designed using natural colours to give an attractive and peaceful setting in which to hold a funeral service. Seating up to 70 people, the interior is adequately heated and the large eastern window makes sure that there is plenty of natural light.

Memorials

For those wishing to perpetuate the memory of their loved ones, there are three forms of memorial that are currently available at the Crematorium.

The Book of Remembrance

It is designed to commemorate those cremated at Kingsdown Crematorium. The books provide a most attractive and lasting form of memorial. The book, in four quarterly volumes, is hand bound using the finest quality materials and richly tooled in blue and gold and emblazoned with the Swindon Coat of Arms. Expert craftsmen add the inspiration and illumination. The book is constantly on display in a protective cabinet and an opening has been provided for each day of the year so that entries may be seen on each anniversary of the date of death. Entries on dates, other than the current date may be viewed by arrangement with the Superintendent.

Entries in the Book of Remembrance must be two, five or eight lines and not more than 32 letters or figures per line. Floral emblems, service badges, family crests, etc. may be included with entries of five or eight lines. Each inscription is written by a craftsman and offers a high degree of artistic quality.

Memorial Wall Plaques

At the rear of the Crematorium there is a wall, which encompasses individual plaques. The plaques will be of granite 7" x 5", again the inscription on the plaque will be of your choice up to a maximum of six lines.

Stone Memorial Vases

A memorial vase with an inscription plaque can be purchased to be placed around the edge of the path in the Memorial Garden. The vase is made of York stone with a bronze plaque. The plaque is 6" x 4" in size. The inscription on the plaque will be your choice, but is restricted to four lines.

The provision of this commemoration allows you to have a personal place where you can visit and place your floral tributes for a period of ten years, which can be renewed by paying the appropriate fee at the time.
