Remember you need to be eligible to receive a community care service in order to get a Direct Payment. If you think you may be eligible for a service you will need to have an assessment from Social Services. To enquire about an assessment use the relevant telephone contact numbers above.

The website has a Direct Payments section which details latest news, changes in legislation as well as access to the acts and background information. NCIL produce a wide range of publications, leaflets, Newsletters and videos aimed at service users, particularly useful for those becoming employers for the first time, the website provides some free downloadable information. NCIL also run a national support network for personal assistants. They have a particularly useful “Employers Toolkit” containing Job descriptions contracts etc as well as useful links to other relevant sites.

“Values into Action is a campaigning organisation to promote the right of people with learning difficulties to become citizens with full access to the opportunities of ordinary community life.” VIA publish a number of books particularly around capacity, consent and control and independent living. The website is currently under development and has limited information but there is a list of publications which can be ordered online.
