Parking for people with disabilities is free in Swindon except in the Brunel North, Brunel West and Fleming Way car parks (where the tariff is the same as for other customers) and most car parks have designated spaces for this group of people. When parked, valid disabled badges (please see Blue Badge Scheme below) must be on display at all times and there is no limit on the length of stay. Swindon also has its own Shopmobility car park, on the ground floor of the Wyvern Car Park, with 27 wide bays available.
The Blue Badge scheme (formerly known as the Orange Badge scheme) is a national arrangement of parking concessions for people with severe walking difficulties who travel either as drivers or passengers.
The scheme also applies to registered blind people, and people with severe upper limb disabilities who regularly drive a vehicle but cannot turn a steering wheel by hand.
Badge holders are allowed to park close to facilities and services such as public buildings, shops, etc.
You can begin the process of applying for a Blue Badge by filling in our online form:

Swindon's Shopmobility scheme is available for anyone with limited mobility and provides a selection of manually-propelled and electrically-powered wheelchairs and scooters. The aim of Shopmobility is simply to help people with mobility difficulties to be able to shop and use the facilities in Swindon's town centre.
The Shopmobility Centre is located in the Wyvern Car Park in Islington Street, Swindon and offers free parking facilities for users of the service.
