Ranger Events

Ranger Events

Swindon is surrounded by wonderful countryside, and has parks, Local Nature Reserves and open spaces filled with wildlife and history, just waiting to be explored.

Our Rangers team provides an excellent variety of walks, talks and children's activities on many different subjects including natural history, seasonal topics, archaeology and animal behaviour. We also offer a comprehensive environmental education programme that schools, colleges and youth groups can access.

Children's Activities

The main ingredient for these popular activities is fun. Adults are welcome to all our children's events and everybody learns a little more about the wealth of wildlife found in Swindon. These events are timed to coincide with school holidays and we advise early booking to avoid disappointment. All children must be accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian. Please check age suitability on each individual event.

Essential Information

As usual we prefer people to book in advance allowing event leaders to plan more effectively
All our walks return to the starting point and are aimed at the pleasure walker.
Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking over rough or muddy ground.
Waterproofs are essential due to the unpredictable nature of the British weather.
We suggest bringing something to eat and drink for the longer walks.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome on most walks, although they must be kept on leads when crossing fields containing livestock.

Each Ranger Event is slightly different, below is a list of icons that are used on each page to indicate the difference.
