Bird Hides

Coate Water bird hide information

Hide information.

To get a better view of our resident and migrant birds at Coate Water why not use one of our hides! We have two hides within the Country Park, both of which are situated in the area that has been designated as a Local Nature Reserve.

You are unable to just go to the hides but there are two easy ways they can be accessed.

Daily hire.

For a small fee you can enjoy the hide for a day. You will need a £2 deposit for the key which can be collected from the Pitch and Putt Hut at Coate Water. This is refunded once the key has been handed back in.

The Pitch and Putt hut is open from 10am every day of the week. Closing times vary according to the time of year. To avoid disappointment we advise that you ring through to check on availability on Swindon (01793) 522 837.

The prices are as follows. (At time of advertising)

SwindonCard Holders £1.90
Concession 1 Card holders £1.10

Permit Holders

It is possible to apply for a permit which will allow unlimited access to the hides for a season. The season at present runs from April to April. An application form can either be downloaded from this page or picked up from the Pitch and Putt hut during opening hours.

Application form

A £2 pound deposit is required for the key and two passport sized photographs. Once the form has been completed it will need to be brought, along with the deposit and photos, to the Pitch and Putt hut to be processed. The Pitch and Putt hut is open from 10am every day of the week. Closing times vary according to the time of year. To avoid disappointment we advise that you ring through first on Swindon (01793) 522 837.

The prices are as follows. (At the time of advertising)
