Ice Rink

Ice Rink

The international-sized ice pad at the Link Centre is recognised as a 'Centre of Excellence' for both figure skating and ice hockey. it is an approved national centre for squad training for the National Ice Skating Association and British Ice Hockey Associations, it is also a NISA approved regional test centre and it provides the south-west with a popular attraction which offers sessions for all ages and abilities.

Session Descriptions

SUB ZERO

The first Friday of every month is Sub Zero Friday, with a club atmosphere in the ice rink. DJ’s will perform at one of the biggest venues in Swindon, creating an environment which turns the rink into the hottest club night on ice.

General Skate

A mixed session of easy listening music allows you to practise your skating skills on the ice. Open to all abilities. Evening session include dance intervals.



Times

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: 10.00am-3.30pm. (there is a 15 minute resurface at 12.00 noon)

Wednesday*7.30pm-9.30pm

*General skating session with dance intervals.

Kids/Family Skate

This session is aimed at younger children and families. A mixed selection of music caters for all tastes whilst you skate in a safe and friendly environment. Mums and dads, brothers and sisters are encouraged to join in.

Disco Session

An upbeat session aimed at teenagers, with disco lights, music and non-stop action on the ice. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Family Disco

Similar to the disco session (see above) but in a more controlled environment which is suitable for younger children and families.

Patches

A limited number of patches are available on the ice to provide you with maximum space to practise your skating skills (having achieved Grade 4 of the National Skate UK Award Scheme). Patches must be booked in advance and can be used with or without a lesson. (no hockey boots allowed)

Patches are beneficial to all levels of skating from novice through to championship level.

Sixty Minutes

Courses

The centre offers a range of progressive courses for toddlers, juniors and adults in basic skating skills, ice dance, free skating, disabled skating and ice hockey during term time, for more information click here and an intensive novice ice skating course during the school holidays.

Group Bookings

If you are bringing a group of 15 or more skaters, in order to gain the group rate of £4.80 for adults and £3.70 for juniors (aged under 16 years), the group must be booked in advance with full payment received a minimum of four weeks in advance.

Figure Skating Club

Thursday 6.15pm-7.45pm.

For skaters who have achieved Level 4 Skating Skills. The club provides group tuition every club night along with club competitions and other skating related events.

Private Lessons Through the Swindon Ice Academy

A fully-qualified team of NISA coaches is available for private lessons bookable via the Link Centre, please click ont he following link to find out more information on the coaching staff.
