Available Items

The following items can be hired from libraries:

All of the above items are available from the Central Library, Highworth Library, (except Music DVD's), North Swindon Library and West Swindon Library.

In addition,DVDs are held at Moredon Library, Park Library, Upper Stratton Library and Wroughton Library

Audio books in cassette format are held at all Swindon libraries.

You can request any item in stock free of charge, online or from any library.

Recommendations for Purchase

We welcome recommendations for purchase of films, music and games items not in stock in Swindon Libraries; please use the Recommendation Form. We will purchase if it meets our criteria for selection.

DVDs

A broad range of DVDs are available, including the latest blockbuster feature films, TV, children's and music titles. In order to maintain the highest standard possible for these collections the latest titles are normally available 4-6 weeks after the commercial release date.

Please note that we are required to abide by the regulations set by the Video Standards Council, and cannot loan certain film categories to under-age customers.

Music DVD collection

The collection includes over a hundred titles covering a range of established and new artists and bands. The collection has been split into three with titles being held at Central Library, North Swindon Library and West Swindon Library. However, any of the titles may be reserved free of charge and hired from any library in Swindon. New titles are added each month.

Music CD Collection

The music collection represents diverse user needs. This means that you should find something to suit you. We have a wide range of music including:

Under British Phonographic Industry guidelines we are required to hold back new music CDs for three months from the release date.
