Visiting Swindon

Steam Museum

STEAM is a unique venue, providing a variety of exciting conference and entertainment opportunities.

Entertaining at STEAM can include gala dinners, canapé receptions, private parties, product launches and promotions, broadcasts and recordings.

Whether you’re looking for a small meeting room for five people, a silver service meal for 100 or a reception for 600 or more, STEAM can accommodate you.

Lecture Room and Balcony

Our stylish, air-conditioned Lecture Room on the top floor of the Museum seats up to 100 delegates theatre-style. However, the Lecture Room can also accommodate smaller groups without feeling too large. The room is equipped with the latest communications equipment, but still retains all the charm and character of the Great Western Railway.

Facilities available in the Lecture Room:

The adjoining balcony - just outside the Lecture Room - is the perfect location for refreshments and affords views over the Museum’s impressive reception area.

Meeting Room

Our traditional-style meeting room is located on the Museum’s first floor and combines GWR architecture with modern-day presentation equipment and comfort. The boardroom table can comfortably seat up to 12 delegates.

Facilities available in the Meeting Room:

Group Refreshment Room and Balcony

The Group Refreshment Room is the ideal location for a party, a group meal, exhibition or low-cost business event. The room is also suitable for a sit-down business lunch when hiring our Lecture Room.

Station Platform

Enjoy a glass of champagne on our famous 1930s Station Platform as the world-renowned GWR locomotive King George V awaits! Our reconstructed GWR platform is a great venue for an informal event outside of Museum opening hours.

Also waiting at our Station Platform is an original 1934, Swindon-built, GWR Buffet Car. Drinks can be served on the Station Platform throughout the evening. A real touch of class for any event!

If you hire our Station Platform, your guests will enjoy a totally exclusive viewing of the whole Museum!

Caerphilly Castle Hall

Dine in style alongside the magnificent GWR express locomotive, Caerphilly Castle, which is displayed in the condition in which it left Swindon Works in 1925. Up to 100 people can be seated for dinner, and by hiring this space your guests can enjoy exclusive viewing of the whole exhibition!

Special Events Hall

Our Special Events Hall is a striking location for up to 600 guests and is also a great location for exhibition and larger scale events.
