Visiting Swindon
Parks, Leisure Centres, Sports Facilities
Not only do these pages detail all the sporting facilities in the town, they also contain pages of information on the allotments around Swindon, all the parks and open spaces, the sports courses that are available in our leisure centres as well as information on the joint Council and PCT initiative Active Swindon.
Swindon Commerical Services provides a diverse range of activities and sports at 12 leisure and sports centres in and around Swindon. Whatever you are in to, we are sure we have something that will interest you - from active sports like squash to passive pastimes like relaxing in our Turkish baths.
Each of our leisure facilities has something different:
The Link Centre in West Swindon has an ice rink, 25m swimming pool, climbing wall and well-equipped gym, as well as an eight-court sports hall, two squash courts, 3G outdoor football pitches and catering/bar provisions. There is also a library and community rooms for hire.
The Oasis Leisure Centre offers a lagoon swimming pool, three giant water slides (Domebusters), an indoor open-topped water slide as well as hydro-slides, wave machine and water cannon, for under 8's there is also the pirate ship interactive play feature and elephant slide, all under the unique dome. There is a newly refurbished gym, eight-court sports hall, indoor bowling green and two squash courts and catering and bar facilities.
The Health Hydro (formally known as Milton Road Baths) in the town centre is steeped in history. Built in 1891 the building still has many old features, there are Turkish baths, a gym, two swimming pools - a 33-metre 5-lane main pool and a smaller and warmer small pool ideal for learning. There are also numerous meeting rooms and practitioners specialising in alternative treatments.
The Highworth Recreation Centre, lies to the north-east of Swindon. It has a new pool which is a deck level 25m pool with retractable sides that open onto sun terraces. When the weather cools, the pool is fully enclosed under a state of the art roof. There is a 3m diving board and a 1m springboard. The Rec is one of only 3 gyms in Wiltshire to hold the Inclusive Fitness Initiative quality mark for provision of exercise facilities for disabled and non-disabled users alike. There is also a four court sports hall, two squash courts, Community hall (including bar if required) and a sports massage clinic.
The Dorcan Recreation Complex offers excellent outdoor facilities, including a synthetic grass area for hockey and football. The newly built Netball dome, a covered outdoor facility with 2 retractable sides, houses 2 tarmac courts. Other outdoor facilities include 2 basketball courts, 6 newly refurbished netball courts and 5 tennis courts, inside, there is also a 20-metre swimming pool, squash courts and an four-court sports hall.
The Haydon Centre is a community-based site with lots of rooms to hire, and an four-court sports hall for badminton, short tennis and indoor football.
The Delta Tennis Centre is a specialised facility for those that want to learn or play tennis. It has four indoor and three outdoor courts.
The Croft Sport Centre is situated in the Old Town area of Swindon, with many outdoor pitches for football, cricket and rugby, a five-court sports hall, two recently renovated squash courts and many rooms to hire.
The County Ground Lifestyle Centre, based in the Arkell's Stand at the Swindon Town Football Club, offers a small gym, with a wide variety of loose weights and an athletics track. It is also the home to the Sports Development department.
The Broome Manor Golf and Gym Complex has a nine-hole course and a par-71 18-hole course. The clubhouse is renowned for its great food, and there is a new gym with high-spec equipment and excellent views of the course. With the introduction of ‘golf tee’ – an automatic golf ball tee system - being installed in the driving range, this facility is unbeatable.
