HMO Standards

Swindon Borough Council HMO Standards

The Council has adopted HMO standards concerning levels of occupation, minimum room sizes, provision of facilities and means of escape in case of fire. These are based on national guidelines but have been modified to suit local circumstances. A major review of these standards was carried out in 2000 following consultation with users and stakeholders. There are six different categories of HMO, each having their own standards, and these are available as downloadable pdf files:
