Home Insurance Scheme

Peace of Mind for Tenants of Swindon Borough Council

Did you know that more than five million households do not have insurance cover for their possessions in the event of fire, burglary or flood?

Swindon Borough Council has recognised the problems tenants face in getting insurance. They have realised that many household contracts available in the high street are not practical, as they may have high minimum sums insured, require an annual payment, insist on a bank account and not offer cover in certain areas.

Swindon Borough Council has arranged a contents insurance scheme, in association with Royal & Sun Alliance, which is geared towards your needs. It is understandable that insurance may be the last thing on your mind, but how would you feel if there was a fire in your home, a burst pipe or you were burgled? You may lose your furniture and your belongings if you don't have insurance. How will you replace them? It is not the council's responsibility to do this.

The premiums start from as little as £0.60 per week for £6,000 of cover for OAPs and £0.90 per week for £9,000 of cover for all other tenants.

You can give yourself that peace of mind knowing that you have a content's insurance policy, which includes benefits such as:

Peace of Mind at Low Cost!

Can you afford to run the risk of losing your possessions in a fire, flood or as a result of a burglary and not have insurance in place that will replace the stolen or damaged items?

If you wish to apply for the insurance, please telephone Paul Hyde at the Business Support Unit on 01793 464657 for a proposal form. The form is also available as a downloadable pdf file or an online form:
