Land and Premises

Land and Premises

This section of the website concentrates on Swindon Borough Council's considerable responsibilites towards the protection and development of the land and premises  within the borough. The Council is required to protect, maintain and often develop the very fabric of the place where we live and work; and these pages detail how this is achieved.

As you would expect, there are up-to-date details of planning applications and decisions. The section on Building Control explains the Council's role in maintaining building standards, and there is specific information related to listed buildings.

The Council is also required to manage and maintain the highways, bridges and lighting in the borough; and these are all covered in depth.

Information is also provided on the important topic of conservation, the establishment of conservation areas, and the provision of parks and gardens for use by anyone living in, working in or visiting Swindon.
