Mineral Development Framework

Minerals Development Framework

The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act, 2004. requires that County Councils and Unitary Authorities prepare a Minerals Development Framework (MDF). Swindon Borough Council is preparing an MDF jointly with Wiltshire County Council, which will comprise:

Minerals Core Strategy

In March 2008, Wiltshire County Council and Swindon Borough Council submitted the draft Minerals Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD) alongside supporting documents to the Secretary of State. At the same time it was published for consultation, the consultation period on the Submission draft document ran between 31st March and 14th May 2008.

The Core Strategy and Sustainability Appraisal can also be viewed at Swindon Borough Council's Customer Services at Premier House, Station Road; and Wat Tyler House, Beckhampton Street, Monday to Friday 9.00 am and 4.30 pm and at all libraries within the Borough during normal opening hours.

The Wiltshire and Swindon Minerals Core Strategy will now be considered at an Examination in Public. A Government Planning Inspector (Graham Cundale BA Hons, MSc MRTPI, MIEEM) has been appointed to undertake an independent examination into the soundness of the Minerals Core Strategy. Minerals Development Control Policies

In July 2008 Wiltshire County Council and Swindon Borough Council submitted the draft Minerals Development Control Policies Development Plan Document (DPD) to the Secretary of State.  The role of this document is to provide greater detail in terms of policies to control and direct minerals development. At the same time it was published for consultation, the consultation period on the Submission Draft ran from Monday 4th August to Friday 12th September 2008.
