Food Standards

Food Standards

The food team can provide advice to both business and consumers on food labelling, food composition and quality matters.

Samples are taken as part of the food service plan programme and submitted to our public analyst.

Food standards inspections of businesses are carried out, usually at the same time as a food hygiene inspection.

We can investigate complaints about food labels or descriptions and if you have concerns you can contact us.

We act as 'Home Authority' to several companies and welcome approaches to cover new or existing business.

Enforcement Policy

The team follows a clear and staged approach to enforcement of the legal requirements.

See: our Enforcement Policy
