The Big Arts Day

Saturday 10 July 2010

A one-day festival celebrating all things artistic and creative in Swindon and you’re invited!

There will be fantastic performances, wonderful exhibitions, and taster sessions in arts activities, as well as an amazing Finale show, plus much more… all set in the beautiful surroundings of Lydiard Park.

Before the day we'll be holding a Big Arts Experiment. We're going to create a new world record for Swindon... the longest ever festive bunting, which we'll use to decorate and exhibit at the Big Arts Day on Saturday 10 July. Head of Culture Swindon Helen Miah is coordinating the experiment voluntarily and aiming to do the entire thing at absolutely no cost!

Helen explained, "All we have to do is make bunting triangles from any kind of material we like and then string them all together. I'm a bit of a knitter so I'm going to knit mine, but they could be made from anything and decorated in all sorts of ways. So... who wants to get involved? Sign up to the event to find out more!"

The Swindon Does Arts team is busy planning the day and wants to make sure everyone can get involved. If you enjoy doing the arts in Swindon, sign up to the website www.swindondoesarts.co.uk to find out how you take part and stay up to date with all our news or catch us on Facebook.

Where: Lydiard Park
When: Saturday 10 July, 12 noon till 11pm.
