Carers' Short Breaks and Respite Directory

At the suggestion of carers, Swindon Borough Council has commissioned the Swindon Carers Centre to compile a directory of organisations and services that can provide respite opportunities.

The directory is split into five sections depending on the difficulties relating to the person cared for.

Please follow the links to the right.

The Need for Respite

Everyone needs a break from time to time. For people with caring responsibilities a break is not a luxury but a necessity. The strains and stresses of caring can take their toll but a bit of time out can recharge you batteries and help both you and the person you look after.

If you are providing a regular and substantial amount of care, your need for a short break or respite care should be identified in you Carers or Children Act Assessment.
