U R Cakes logoU R Cakes supplies delicious cakes, while providing an opportunity for people with learning difficulties to learn a range of work-related and independent living skills.

(Please see Range and Price List for details of the cakes available.)

Skills

Through making and selling UR Cakes, team members can learn skills and gain useful experience, such as:

Production, Packing and Other Skills

Workers at U R Cakes

Learning how to follow and carry out instructions, food handling and hygiene, producing and selling a quality product, interacting with a team and customers.

Accredited Learning

Workers at U R CakesAll activities are underpinned by classroom-based learning at Swindon College and the Clapham Hobbs Unit.

At the end of the course, learners will achieve the Basic Food Handling qualification.

Independent Travel

One-to-one bus training makes it possible for people with learning disabilities to travel independently and safely to and from sites and college, as well as to other leisure activities.

Working at U R Cakes

Workers at U R CakesPeople with learning disabilities can join U R Cakes for an agreed term of up to two years.

During this time, they will meet the Connect supported employment service to discuss and learn more about their pathway to work.

At the end, Connect will support individuals to find a paid or voluntary role in the community.
