Art on Tour

Art on Tour is an ambitious outreach project begun in late 2019, designed to share more art, with more people, in more places across Swindon. Swindon’s significant modern art collection will be appearing in venues throughout the town, supported by vibrant engagement and education programmes. And it’s all free!

The community engagement programme aims to transform the way people experience Swindon’s art collection, by generating exciting catalysts for engagement throughout Swindon, from enjoying an original artwork in the workplace, to taking part in family workshops.

The schools outreach programme offers pop-up gallery visits, cross-curricular workshops, and staff CPD and resources.

By working with schools, colleges, libraries, businesses, cultural venues, festivals and many more organisations, Art on Tour provides a unique opportunity for Swindon Museum and Art Gallery to be more inclusive, innovative and visible in Swindon’s communities.

Art on Tour Goes Digital!

In response to the Covid-19 crisis, we thought creatively about how best to continue the Art on Tour outreach project and launched a new digital platform to bring our nationally significant art collection to people’s living rooms! This includes daily learning resources for families at home, and educational resources for schools.

To help combat worry, boredom and isolation, we share daily digital content so that people can explore and engage with the Swindon Collection of Modern British Art from the comfort of their own sofas!
