Budget Savings 2010-2014

Swindon Borough Council Children Services are undertaking a project to plan budget savings from 2010-2014.

A fortnightly Children Services Budget Savings Briefing will be published on schoolsonline, with the first Briefing published on 28 June 2010, via the weekly alert.

The Briefing will provide important messages about:

The scale and urgency of the budget challenges we now face, in the current year and until 2014
How we are undertaking the fundamental review of all our services, regardless of how they are currently funded
How we will communicate and consult with you, and with children and young people and parents

Free School Meals

We would like to inform you that the Free School Meals (FSM) Service, which has been administered by the School Admissions Team in previous years, will now be delivered by the Central Admin Team at the Business Support Unit of the Council at the Civic Annex, Euclid Street. This is with effect from the 11th May 2010. The Central Admin Team, who will be processing all FSM forms, will notify parents by letter as to whether or not they are entitled to FSM. They will also notify schools on a weekly basis of the number of children that are eligible for free school meals at their school.

In terms of obtaining forms, parents will be able collect these from the One Stop Shop or online from the Free School Meal webpages on the Council's website. (www.swindon.gov.uk/educationandlearning/schoolsandcolleges/freeschoolmeals.htm)
