Transport & Streets

Motorcycle to work

MotorcycleMotorcycles and mopeds can offer a more environmentally friendly alternative to travel by private car and are more space efficient that other vehicles, particularly in terms of parking and congestion.

Benefits to your employees could include lower running costs and improved journey times.

What can you do as an employer to encourage the use of powered two wheelers?

  • Provide safe and secure parking.
  • Provide lockers, changing facilities, showers and storage for equipment (e.g. motorcycle helmets).
  • Motorcycle User Groups.
  • Offer financial incentives such as interest-free loan.
  • Consider investigating the provision of safety training for employees who currently ride or are considering switching to this mode.

If you would like to discuss other ways to encourage your staff to use powered two wheelers to get to work contact the Transport Planning Team
