Roads, Highways and Pavements Maintenance

Service Details

Swindon Borough Council is responsible for maintaining around 2500 kilometres of public highways, comprised of:

  • Road and carriageways
  • Footpaths and pavements
  • Cycleways
  • Backways.

Regular inspections of these are undertaken by trained Highway Inspectors and any defects found are programmed for repair.

Although the regular inspections capture most of the defects that occur, sometimes deterioration or damage occurs between inspections. As such we would like you to let us know if you notice any defect so that an ad-hoc inspection and remedial work can be carried out.

To Report a Problem

If you consider the problem to be immediately dangerous, please telephone the StreetSmart team at the Swindon Direct Contact Centre on:

  • 01793 445501 (Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm; Saturday 9am to 1pm)
