Road Safety

It Starts With You!

Think Road Safety

What can we do to reduce the number of road casualties?

The bad news is: we can all be the cause.

The good news is: we can also be the solution.

We must:

  • Wake up to the devastating extent of death and injury on our roads
  • Accept that all of us should help make the roads safer by improving what we do – even a little bit
  • Teach families, our friends and ourselves the skills and attitudes to enable us to take care whenever we use the roads
  • Make a commitment to always think about safety first before we drive

Swindon Borough Council have a statutory responsibility to provide road safety education, training and publicity for all age groups and category of road user, if you cannot find a solution to your road safety problem on our site please contact us on 01793 466399 or e-mail Margaret Tester at mtester@swindon.gov.uk.

Swindon 50 Promises

Promise 50: Through better safety initiatives on the roads we control, we will reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on the roads by 40%, and the number of children killed or seriosuly injured by 50%.
