Science Museum Swindon

The Science Museum Swindon will create 50,000 sq metres of new storage to accommodate the hidden collections from a number of museums.

The Museum currently stores over 18,000 of the Science Museum's large objects from a Lockheed Constellation airliner to early computers, from bicycles to the Woods Press and MRI scanners to hovercrafts. 2009 will see the opening of a brand new National Collections Centre providing public access to a quarter of a million objects; all stored within a 10 acre building under one 'green' roof.

Inspired at the Science Museum Swindon is a brand new kind of museum opening in 2010, and is one of six transformational projects shortlisted to receive £50million from the Big Lottery Fund. The winning project will be decided by a televised public vote later this year. For more information visit www.voteinspired.org.uk
