Old Town Shopping

Enjoy the Experience

Wood Street, Old TownA visit to Swindon's Old Town area is a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Set in the old heart of Swindon, you will be surrounded by the splendour of Swindon's past. The area boasts many small shops selling antiques, curios, books and furnishings. There are many cafés, bars and restaurants for when you want a break from shopping.

Farmer's Market

A Farmer's Market takes place in Old Town.on the last Friday of every month. It is located in the open area behind Wood Street and boasts a wealth of local produce including meat and poultry, eggs and cheeses, jams and chutneys, herbs and plants, cakes and pies, organic produce and veg... with seasonal producers attending as their produce allows.

Parks and Gardens

Close by is the Lawns Park, which in time gone by was the grounds to the Goddard family's estate, and the beautifully-kept Town Gardens with it's rose garden and bandstand. The Town Gardens also includes the Old Town Bowl, which is the venue for Swindon's unique, annual World Music Festival.

Museum and Art Gallery

Also, a few steps from the Wood Street shopping area, you will find the Swindon Museum and Art Gallery, which houses one of the finest collections of modern art in the country.
