Parks and Open Spaces: Volunteers

Are you over 18 years of age?

Would you like to do more for your local environment?

Do You like a Challenge?

There are many ways you can get involved. Swindon has over 150 parks and green spaces, all managed by our Parks and Ranger Teams. You will be able to get involved by joining up with either the Volunteer Rangers or the Volunteer Gardeners.

Volunteer Rangers

The Volunteer Rangers have been active for over 10 years and have made a valuable contribution to the upkeep and management of many of our local Country Parks.

For more information on work programmes and newsletters, click this link to Volunteer Rangers.

Volunteer Gardeners

A Volunteer Gardeners group is also run in conjunction with the Parks Department. The group is run and led Richard Beale, Parks Officer. You will also be working in conjunction with our highly skilled head gardeners who have many years of experience.

We regularly meet in Queens Park and Town Gardens where we undertake general maintenance duties

The normal work times start at 10 am and finish at approximated 2 pm, although you are free to turn up and leave when it suites you best with in these times

The work is physical and you need to be able to cross rough terrain and have good physical movement

There are also oportunities to help us promote our parks and open spaces, we are looking to involve as many people as possible in the design of promotional materials such as leaflets or even this webpage.....

Why not join a friends of group and get involved by shaping the parks and gardens of the future.
