This summer, go for gold with Team Read. It’s your chance to take up a challenge that will stretch you to the max! It's fun, it's sporty, it's free, it's at your local library!

Pick up your amazing ‘moving image’ membership card and fold-out stadium poster. Then read your way through bronze and silver levels, to get your gold medal, collecting stickers as you go!

Your name will also be entered into a prize-draw, with the chance to win some fantastic prizes (kindly donated by Cotswold Wildlife Park, Oasis Leisure Centre, STEAM Museum and Childs Play International).

Team Read will be running in all Swindon Libraries from July 19th to September 13th 2008. Enrol at your local library from Saturday 5th July.

What is Team Read all about?

Children don’t have to be sports fanatics to get excited about Team Read. They choose and read six books over the summer holidays. Friendly staff – their professional coaches – are on hand to give advice and guidance to get them on the fast track to becoming keen readers.

The challenge inspires children to read for fun, broaden their horizons and talk about books. They enjoy the freedom to choose whatever they want to read from the wealth of books that libraries have to offer, and the challenge element of the scheme gives them an incentive to read and a sense of achievement on finishing.

Quotes from parents and children who completed the Summer Reading Challenge last year:

"I think the Summer Reading Challenge is good because reading puts lots of good images in my head, and it makes me really want to finish the book I'm reading." James

"I'd say to other parents that sharing a book with your child can be a really special time together. The Summer Reading Challenge will help you find books they'll be interested in. And it's all free - it doesn't cost anything to join your local library and take out a book."  Karen
