Allotments

Picture of a gardener tying up plantsIf you are looking for up to date information on plot price and availabilty please click on the Allotment /Leisure gardens within Swindon link to the right.

Swindon Borough Council has more than 1,300 plots of varying size and shape on 26 sites, so there should be one in easy reach of everybody.

Within Swindon are a number of Parish council allotments, for information on these or if you live within a parish council area you should contact the relevent Parish Clerk for details of local Parish Council Allotments

An allotment provides relaxation and exercise and can provide healthy food, fruit, flowers and herbs.

Gardening is excellent exercise for people of all ages - some doctors are even prescribing it to improve the health of their patients!

There is no better feeling than eating your own home-grown crops. They can be far cheaper and tastier than supermarket produce, not genetically modified and can be grown organically.

Allotments also provide a great way of socialising with like-minded people, both young and old.

Allotments are not just about growing rows of vegetables. Many tenants grow flowers, fruit, herbs and spices and get the most from their allotments.
