Responsible increasing opportunities to be active in the great outdoors to promote both physical and social benefits and to foster a sense of well-being through:

  • Increasing involvement in conservation projects so that volunteers become more physically active and, at the same time, take pride in benefiting the environment.
  • Encouraging more walking, cycling, running and orienteering in partnership with the voliuntary sector clubs, Parks department and Lifestyle team
  • Attracting greater interest and awareness of opportunities for families to benefit from activities in forests through schools, using Storysacks courses and Forest Schools programmes.

Responsible for working with vulnerable groups to encourage them to be more active through developing and offering physical activity programmes suited to their needs.

Introducing and encouraging employees to take part in physical activity, this can be done by introducing them to existing facilities and creating new opportunities.

Responsible for working in businesses to promote the importance of physical activity for good health, within the business environment through the Active @ work programmes

Marketing & Communications Officer (position currently vacant)
Responsible for promoting Active Swindon through the local media, producing the promotional material and co-ordinating a display stand at key events. The Marketing & Communications Officer is also responsible for the Active Swindon newsletter and website.
