If you want to be active outdoors this page is a great place to get started. Swindon is lucky to have plenty of green, open spaces great for exploring and this page gives you information on regular opportunities to walk, run, cycle, orienteer and mountaineer in the area.

One-off outdoor events may be posted on the Events page.

Walking Challenge for Fitness

walking challenge decorative imageIf you want to improve your fitness there is no better way than to walk on a regular basis. Active Swindon challenges you to walk the equivalent distance of the Millennium Trail (50km) and / or the Thames Path (300km). Upon completion we are offering leisure or entertainment vouchers. This way your fitness level will improve and your endeavours will be rewarded.

  • To register for the challenge download the challenge postcard (264kb PDF file), phone 01793 466202 or email npratt@swindon.gov.uk.
  • Complete the back of the postcard according to the instructions.
  • Return to the freepost address on the back of the postcard (if you download the form put the completed form in an envelope first).

Opportunities to Walk

In addition to the walking opportunities offered in the above booklet the Dorcan Church Walkers will be leading walks over the next six months. Walks are 4-5 miles long and leave from St. paul’s church car-park. The dates are:

Sunday 4th February 2007 1.30pm

Sunday 4th March 2007 1.30pm

Sunday 1st April 2007 2pm

Sunday 6th May 2pm
