In this section: Information about Keep Active, the range of activity sessions available for those a little older in years but who are still wishing to participate in a chosen physical activity.
Introduction
Keep Active or the '50+ programme' is a range of activities aimed specifically at the mature adult and those who require sessions tailored to meet their specific needs. The Keep Active initiative is a way of helping people to carry on with the physical activity they choose for as long as possible.
Our activities are delivered weekly across all ten of our centres and outreach classes are also available. We offer over 20 activities including exercise classes, dancing, sport sessions, swimming, health sessions and walking.
There is also a full programme of fitness classes available at all our sites, from water-based classes, to relaxing Yoga, to dance classes including Zumba.
Activity Grading System
The number (ranging from 1-2) focuses on the intensity of the class. However, multi-level teaching is applied to all classes which enables all participants to work at their own level.
The letter focuses on the complexity of the class. It describes how complicated the class is in relation to the choreography and level of co-ordination required. All instructors will offer alternatives and multi-level teaching techniques enabling participants to work at their own level.
