SwindonCard - Eligibility 

On this page: Information on the criteria and proof needed for each level of discount available with Swindoncard.

Adult aged 19 to 59 (no benefits - X Card)

• Resident will pay: £15.50
• Non Resident will pay: £31.00
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address: typed official document displaying name and address e.g. utility bill (joint names acceptable)

Incapacity Benefit (non means tested - X Card)

• Resident will pay: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address/benefit: relevant letter from Job Centre Plus (address will be included on this letter)

Disability Living Allowance (non means tested - X Card)

• Resident will pay: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address/benefit: relevant letter from Department of Work and Pensions (address will be included on this letter)

Employment Support Allowance (X Card)

• Resident will pay: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address/benefit: relevant letter from Job Centre Plus (address will be included on this letter)

War Disablement Pension (non means tested - X Card)

• Resident will pay: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address/benefit: relevant letter from Department of Work and Pensions (address will be included on this letter)

Child Tax Credit/Working Tax Credit (means tested - X Card)

• Resident will pay: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Benefit proof: white plastic card issued by the prescription authority for free NHS prescriptions and dental treatment or a renewal letter from the NHS business services authority.
• Separate proof of address: typed official document displaying name and address (joint names acceptable)

Junior Card under 3 years old (Y Card)

• Residents: Free
• Non Residents: Free
• Proof of identity: Child Benefit documentation or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address: (Separate Adult) Typed official document displaying name and address e.g. utility bill (joint names acceptable)

Junior Card aged 3 - 18 years (Y Card)

• Resident will pay: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay:£5.50
• Proof of identity: Child Benefit documentation, Citizen Card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address: (Separate Adult) Typed official document displaying name and address e.g. utility bill (joint names acceptable)

Adult aged 60 to 74 years (Y Card)

• Resident will pay: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard plus proof of age, e.g. birth certificate, Citizen Card or bus pass.
• Proof of address: typed official document displaying name and address e.g. utility bill (joint names acceptable)

Full Time Student aged 19+ at College or University (Y Card)

• Resident will pay: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard, plus proof of being a full time student, e.g. Student receipt card displaying Courses Code that ends in 'F', New College Card, Letter from College or University.
• Proof of address: typed official document displaying name and address e.g. utility bill (joint names acceptable)

Adult resident/non resident aged over 75 years (Z Card)

• Residents: Free
• Non Residents: Free
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard plus proof of age, e.g. birth certificate, Citizen Card or bus pass.
• Proof of address: typed official document displaying name and address e.g. utility bill (joint names acceptable)

Income Support (resident only - Z Card)

• Residents: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address/benefit: relevant letter from Job Centre Plus (address will be included on this letter) confirming in receipt of current benefit. Plus separate proof of address: typed official document displaying name and address e.g. utility bill (joint names acceptable).
• Non Residents on Income Support will be issued with an X Card.

Housing Benefit (resident only - Z Card)

• Residents: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address/benefit: relevant letter from Swindon Borough Council (address will be included on this letter) confirming in receipt of current benefit. Plus seperate proof of address: typed official document displaying name and address e.g. utility bill (joint names acceptable).
• Non Residents on Housing Benefit will be issued with an X Card.

Council Tax Benefit (resident only - Z Card)

• Residents: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address/benefit: relevant letter from Swindon Borough Council confirming in receipt of current benefit. Plus separate proof of address: typed official document displaying name and address e.g. utility bill (joint names acceptable).
• Non Residents on Council Tax Benefit will be issued with an X Card.

Income Based Job Seekers Allowance  - valid for 6 months (resident only - Z Card)

• Residents: £2.75
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address/benefit: relevant letter from Job Centre Plus confirming in receipt of current benefit. Plus separate proof of address: typed official document displaying name and address e.g. utility bill (joint names acceptable).
• Non Residents on Job Seekers Benefit will be issued with an X Card.

Pension Credit (resident only - Z Card)

• Residents: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address/benefit: relevant letter from Pension Service confirming in receipt of current benefit. Plus separate proof of address: typed official document displaying name and address e.g. utility bill (joint names acceptable).
• Non Residents on Pension Credit Benefit will be issued with an X Card.

National Assistance Act 1974 (resident only - Z Card)

• Residents: £5.50
• Non Resident will pay: £10.50
• Proof of identity with photo: driving licence, passport, citizen card or existing Swindoncard.
• Proof of address/benefit: letter from Support Agency confirming name and Swindon Borough Council allocated address. Home Office number must be on the letter to prove authentication.
• Non Residents will be issued with an X Card.
