Download eBooks and audiobooks for free

We've got titles for adults and children, fiction and non-fiction, with new stock being added regularly.

All you need to get started is:

  • An internet connection (not available on library PCs)
  • Your library membership card and PIN code.

Simply go to our eLibrary (swindon.lib.overdrive.com)

For help and advice on downloading the software needed to use the eBooks or audiobooks, please visit the eLibrary help pages.

Once downloaded, our digital titles can be enjoyed on your computer or transferred to:

  • an eReader or compatible device for eBooks
  • a compatible MP3 player, including iPods for audiobooks

A full list of compatible devices is available on the Overdrive website (www.overdrive.com/resources/drc/)

Please note that you will not be able to download to a Kindle device initially but we hope that you will
be able to in the future once Amazon UK lifts licensing restrictions.

Titles are borrowed for either 7 or 14 days - you choose - and then automatically returned.  There are no fines as items can’t be kept beyond the loan period.

You can also place free reservations for items currently on loan and you will be emailed when these become available.

In addition to borrowing eBooks, you can also download numerous classic titles by authors including Charles Dickens, Charlotte Bronte and others.  These can be found by clicking on 'Additional eBooks' at the bottom left hand side of the eLibrary catalogue.
