Continuing Programme of Improvement

As well as repairing council-owned homes when required, we also have a continuing programme of on-going work to ensure the standard of accommodation is maintained and improved. 

Current Programmes 

Improving Swindon Homes 

This is an on-going programme of internal modernisation of our older homes, including improvements to: 

• Kitchens
• Bathrooms
• Layouts 

Energy Efficiency 

This programme will improve the energy efficiency of our homes by reducing the heat lost through poor insulation. It includes the installation of: 

• Efficient central heating systems
• Cavity wall insulation
• Loft insulation

Re-Wires Scheme 

This is another important part of our maintenance work. Every year a number of properties across the town are re-wired and electrical wiring to communal areas in flats is brought up to modern standards. 

Planned Maintenance and Improvements Working Group
