Welfare Reform Act 2012
On the 8 March 2012 the Welfare Reform Act 2012 received Royal Assent and became law.
This follows on from the November 2010 White Paper, ‘Universal Credit: welfare that works’, which set out the Coalition Government’s proposals to reform welfare and improve work incentives and simplify the benefits system. More details about the implementation of the new Act are due to be published in May 2012.
How will this affect me and my household?
It restricts Housing Benefit for social housing tenants (with the Council or a Housing Association) whose accommodation is larger than they need. Read more... (pdf)
