In July 2003, Swindon Borough Council published its Private Sector Housing Renewal Strategy.
This document sets out the Council's intentions for improving private sector housing in Swindon. The document establishes where it believes assistance is required and outline the measures it intends using to make improvements. Specifically it examines:

- Decent Homes
- Empty Property
- Private Rented Sector
- Area Priorities
- Assisting People With Disabilities

Private Sector Housing Renewal Assistance
Based on its Housing Renewal Strategy, the Council agreed its policy for providing limited direct assistance in the form of grants and loan support. This document details the types of grant assistance available and also which householders currently qualify.

Please Note: All grants, except for Disabled Facilities Grants, are discretionary and are subject to the availability of funding. Such funding availability varies from year to year.
